This guide is designed to help you when you receive a “Ready to update BIOS” BIOS update error message.
Repair your computer now.
1. Press and hold the mouse button for about 10 seconds until the computer turns off.
2. Disable any external pointing devices or keyboards connected to this computer.
3. Make sure none of the BIOS update request keys are stuck in the down position: Tab, F12, or ` (on the same button as ~ [tilde]). Try pressing all of these keys several times.Just to make sure they come back to “increase” their position.
[Note. If the keyboard has liquid installed, this item can result in the same condition even if one of the BIOS reset prompt keys is stuck. In this case, the keyboard must be replaced. The private warranty still does not cover spilled liquids. See below for more information from an authorized service provider.]
How long should a BIOS update take?
The update process usually takes 90 minutes or less, but there is only a very small subset of devices, usually older or slower ones, where the update process can take longer provided that it is.
If you usually get the “Ready for BIOS update” message again, try repeating the above procedure to free any key that might be stuck.
5. Follow the BIOS update (by asking for help from the second computer):
2 details. Copy the current unzipped/extended BIOS, ready to be written to a floppy.
3. Insert the floppy disk into the designated disk drive on the handicap or computer and press Enter. The BIOS will be updated (or at least replaced). At present, the computer can boot normally. If not, savethose are the following:
6 likes. Try turning off more peripherals (printers, scanners, PC cards…) located on one of the computer’s air vents.
7. Try removing the extra memory added by your potential reseller. (If clearing the memory solves the problem, try reinstalling it. It may have had to be reinstalled just to connect.)
8. Turn on the computer incorrectly, just plug in a PC style PS2 external keyboard. [Warning: Connecting a PS/2 keyboard or mouse while the computer is on may damage the PS/2 port on the computer.] Turn the laptop back on.
If none of these tasks solve the problem, the device should be repaired by an authorized service center.
How do I update BIOS from BIOS?
Download the latest BIOS (or UEFI) from the manufacturer’s website.Unzip the house and copy it to a spare flash drive.Restart your computer and enter BIOS/UEFI.Take the opportunity to update the BIOS/UEFI.
